Mr Richard Elias, Dr Gary Grohmann and Dr Anu Choudry were our guests for the week. Mr Elias tutored one group and presented a daily session on the ‘Gospel of Thomas’. Dr Grohmann tutored another group and presented the ‘The Art of Conversation’ one evening and Dr Choudry took the morning chanting sessions as well as a daily ‘Speak Sanskrit Class’.
The two other groups were taken by senior Perth tutors. Mrs Kruger took singing sessions in the evenings and we were entertained by ‘Fuego Duo’ the violin duo of Brian and Katherine Kruger.
Veena O’Sullivan from Sydney was a surprise guest and performed classical Indian dance pieces for us on both Friday and Saturday evenings.
The week’s study included study and reflection on a verse from the Gita Chapter 5, verses 8 and 9.
‘I do nothing at all’; thus would the truth-knower think, steadfast, – though seeing, hearing, touching, smelling, eating, going, sleeping, breathing, speaking, letting go, seizing, opening and closing the eyes,-remembering that the senses move among sense-objects.
The Plato study was based on the dialogue entitled ‘Meno’ where the question of whether virtue or excellence can be taught is thoroughly examined by Socrates and his interrogator, Meno.
The ‘Gospel of Thomas’ session in the afternoon was delivered by Mr Elias and was a truly beautiful study, enjoyed by all.
To help others in the future a ‘Residential Fund’ has been set up specifically for donations from anyone who is able to donate, in order to make the next residential a possibility for those whose finances may not extend to the full cost. You can donate at any time by completing the donation form below.
